These illustrations were created using a combination of digital painting and collage techniques. Jones uses his traditional cartoon style to create a colorful universe where background objects and environments perform the lyrics of this song. Each environment is created to offer a glimpse into She'Knead's personality.
For this music video, there is a push-and-pull in the star power. The music is performed by various background objects including ground beef, Keith Haring inspired paintings, and the Moon. This gives the impression that the main character is not really aware, or in control, of the events--a testament to her tense and addictive relationship with Big Meat.
To achieve this effect, Jones employed fashion design, green screens, make-up, and layer masks to isolate his eyes while lip-synching the lyrics.
Jones first step was creating a Balaklava sewing pattern based on the measurements of his head. In sourcing fabrics, it was important to find a stretchy, bright green, non--reflective fabric. The next step in the process was planning the make-up. Jones created contrast using a red lipstick and thick eyelashes that bring attention to the eyes and lips. He then used green cream foundation to cover parts of the skin that will be inevitably exposed in the eyeholes and mouth hole. For filiming, Jones used a variety of LED lights and DSLR cameras to record lip-synch performances of the lyrics that were then edited and collaged on top of the animated layers, ultimately bringing life to the background objects.
